Seven-Year-Old DJ Shalom D'Souza Rocks the IPL Finals

In a world where the strange only gets stranger, the Bollywood glitz surrounding the Indian Premier League (IPL) finals saw seven-year-old DJ Shalom D'Souza (DJ Hi Frequency) spin her favorite filmi tracks in front of 55,000 people on Sunday evening. The even bigger irony is that she does not like cricket.

"I don't like cricket at all, but music is my passion and I am sure I will rock the stage with foot-tapping dance numbers," D'Souza said.

Music is in D'Souza's blood, with a father who runs a music institute in India. She has been a fan of turntablism since watching DJ Nasha at her father's business, and was planning on dropping tracks such as 'Twist' from the movie 'Lova Aaj Kal,' 'All izz well' from '3 Idiots' and 'Jalwa' from 'Fashion.' Observing aspiring DJs learning the art, she too got interested.

"I love music, in any form," she stated. "I used to get thrilled every time daddy brought me here. Other students and instructors taught me scratching and mixing and that is how I became a DJ."
