After being banned in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria, Rammstein's latest single 'Ich Tu Dir Weh' was released yesterday in the U.S. As Consequence of Sound reports, the German Federal Office for the Examination of Media Harmful to Young People had previously found the group's single too offensive to be marketed openly. The group decided, then, to turn to the U.S., where the original version of the single is now available on iTunes. In fact, Rammstein has found a good amount of commercial success in the States, where their album 'Liebe Ist Fur Alle Da' entered at #13 on the Billboard charts, the best initial U.S. showing the group has ever had. They're also reportedly planning a tour in the US for sometime this fall. Check out the video for their latest controversial single, after the jump.

1. Can you please tell us when Ich Tu' Dir Weh was banned in Austria and Switzerland? The single came out first in Austria as far as I know, so this is fairly big news.

2. I'm an American and I love Rammstein. And I'm so glad the song didn't get banned in the US. Especially since it's my favorite one on the album. It was already my favorite, though, even before I learned of the controversy about it, and I was shocked to hear the news of it being banned in Germany. Now whenever I listen to it, it makes me cherish my freedom to do so even more. Censorship is so senseless.

3. I am a German and Rammstein is one of my favorite bands of all time. As I live in Australia now I am even prouder to support Rammstein and I also was impressed how big they are down under.
Well, banning in general is not the right tool. At first music is art - and Rammstein are a highly sophisticated kind of art. Art is free an not to be censored. Ok, if you don't know Rammstein, and only listen to the lyrics, I could understand a reaction like banning. BUT it is a tool to succeed to provoke through lyrics and it makes listeners thinking about that reality they describe. Beside that they did it from their very first album on back in 1995 and it is their style of art.
So free your minds.

4. Rammstein is my favorite band and i live in the U.S. even though most people disaprove of what i listen to Rammstein has changed part of me for the better and shouldnt be banned from anywhere. i agree that the music is art and if you dont like this kind of art then that doesnt give you the right to remove it all together for an amount of people. if you dont like it, dont listen to it. not everyone in one place is going to hate or like a certain thing. i hadn't been listening to rammstein for too long but it has already motivated me to learn german and maybe one day visit germany. The german language is beautiful and Rammstein's music is too.
