While performing at Coachella this past weekend, French group Phoenix revealed some more details about their forthcoming soundtrack for the new Sofia Coppola film 'Somewhere.' In an interview with the BBC, frontman Thomas Mars said that the album is "almost like sound design," adding that, "It wasn't like writing songs, it was more about trying to make a sound that fits with a Ferrari and the city of Los Angeles' theme. It was more of an engineer work than a composer." Guitarist Christian Mazzalai added that Coppola "asked us to do some music, very in the spirit of ['Wolfgang Amadeus' track] 'Love Like a Sunset,' so we tried to put that track and elements of the track in the movie, and it worked well."
'Somewhere' is due out in theaters this fall.
