South Africa's favorite sons and daughters Soweto Gosepl Choir is teaming up with U2 to cross-pollinate some arena-sized gospel rock for bite-sized sound bites, or "inserts" about South Africa that will be thrown into ESPN coverage of the World Cup.From June 11 onward through the tournament, the sports station will air the specially-recorded music along with their informational programming on South Africa. "This is something very exciting for the choir considering U2 is such a big rock band," said the choir's Lucas Bok.
This marks the second time Soweto Gospel Choir crossed paths with U2, where both performed at South Africa's anti-AIDS 46664 Concert benefit in 2003.
