Nigeria's Vanguard claims that producer Terry G has fled the country after swiping guarantees for a no-show performance. The ruckus began over a month ago when the father of a student at the University of Benin paid the producer directly for a scheduled performance in the range of 750K Nigerian Nairas, which translates roughly to $5k, no small guarantee in any country. The university student's father, G.T. Emiko subsequently made a flurry of phone calls, ending in a rather curt conversation with Terry G's publicist that concluded with: "Are you the only one that does not know that Terry G is out of the country? Have a good day, gentleman."
This isn't the first time the producer has landed in murky waters. Earlier in the year he made headlines for allegedly stealing beats from fellow Nigerian musician Ditty Blaq. Much like the current snafu, no word was heard from Terry G on the matter.
