Tito El Bambino is enjoying international recognition with his third studio album 'El Patron.' The Puerto Rican singer became well known as part of the reggaeton duo Hector & Tito, but after the duo's breakup, Tito had struggled to carry on with his solo career. He became a household name when his first single, 'El Amor,' converted him into a star. The song was one of the biggest hits of 2009, for which he eventually become the most nominated artist at this year's Latin Billboard Music Awards with 18 nominations. During his 2010 Vina del Mar performance, he was highly criticized by media for almost begging the audience for awards, something that's supposed to happen naturally as the audience is Vina's ultimate jury. But this has hardly damaged his image, and in fact, it only made him even more famous.
The key to his success is his shift from reggaeton to pop music, a change that has brought him controversy from his reggaeton fans who feel he has lost his urban edge. On top of broadening his music appeal, Tito has managed to collaborate with renowned artists from different genres, like Puerto Rico's diva Yolandita Monge and 'The Princess of Salsa' La India. A few months back, he announced an unexpected collaboration with Regional Mexican singer Jenni Rivera.
This time around, Tito El Bambino has recruited La Banda El Recodo, Mexico's most legendary 'banda.' The odd collaboration has recorded a Banda version of Tito's latest hit 'Te Pido Perdon.' It seems like this was the missing piece in Tito's career, a smart move that should popularize him in Mexico and Central America, where Regional Mexican music dominates radio airplay.
