BrasilFest 2010 Coming to Seattle in August

Seattle's 12th annual BrasilFest has been scheduled for Sunday, August 15, on the grounds of Seattle Center, 305 Harrison Street, Seattle, Washington. The single-day event, according to the festival's website, "will offer continuous music, dance, workshops and performance that represent a broad repertoire of traditional and contemporary Brazilian expressions as well as traditional folkloric performers." Among the events taking place are Capoeira demonstrations and workshops for all ages (Brazilian martial arts), Samba workshops, children's activities (mask-making, painting), Brazilian instruments, arts and crafts, photo exhibits and films.

Said festival organizer Eduardo Mendonça, a Brazilian singer-musician, "Not only is this festival important to the Brazilian community but also for the general public that loves Brazilian arts and culture. Our mission is for people to have the most fun they can while being exposed to and educated about Brazilian culture."

The event is free to the public. The full schedule can be found here.
