Chicano-psych-krautrockers Allá have just been confirmed to play the Pitchfork Music Festival, which takes place in their hometown of Chicago on July 18. Comprised of brothers Jorge Ledezma (production, guitars, keyboards), Angel Ledezma (drums, percussion) and lead vocalist Lupe Martinez, who also does double duty on guitar, Allá reflects what it sounds like to be living in the hyphen. The Mexican-American, psych-pop trio embraces not just the music of their roots but a global palette that spans decades and cultures: from German Krautrock experiments, Motown flourishes, Brazilian Tropicalia, and cosmic jazz to the symphonic sixties pop of Brian Wilson, the retro-futurism of Stereolab, and even traces of Chicago's post-rock scene. Allá's 2008 Spanish-language debut, 'Es Tiempo' and a second mini-album in 2009 titled 'Digs,' were both released by indie Belgian label Crammed Discs.
