After all the rumors about who would represent France in this year's Eurovision competition, MusicActu reports that the face of French music has finally been decided upon. Beating out the likes of Christophe Willem and Emmanuel Moire, among others, dancehall-zouk fusion artist Jessy Matador seems to be the national selection committee's choice to represent the Land of Gaul in this May's international competition. Although his label, Wagram Music, has yet to confirm the reports, several French websites are already reporting it as a done deal. Matador's coy responses to questions from reporters have also led some to suggest that something's afoot.Matador first made a name for himself with 2008's single 'Offset Gwada,' an innovative track that blended hip-hop, Latin, and Congolese dance influences. It'll take everything he's got to placate the demanding French audiences, who, despite having won 5 Eurovision competitions, are currently in the midst of a 32 year drought.
