Initiative Musik Brings German Music, Food to SXSW

In case you find yourself plagued with an inexplicable yearning for German music and German food at this year's SXSW festival, the good people at Initiative Musik have you covered. This year's festival will feature an exclusive 'Lunch with the Germans' on March 18th, an event that's sure to satisfy even the most demanding of Germanophiles. In what's being hailed as a watershed culinary-musical event in the festival's history, the German lunch will feature some of the latest German house music, and some of the country's most delectable gastronomic delights--at the same time. Gourmet chefs Hayk Seirig and Phillip Patzig will be in the kitchen whipping up their own gourmet treats, while DJ Heidi, DJ Tobias Thomas, and electro-wizard Matias Aguayo kick out the jams.

While Initiative Musik is officially sponsoring the event, it also marks the first time that so many local German organizations are coming together to promote their collective culture. Arts and music organizations like C/o Pop, Reeperbahn Festival, Jazzahead!, and Berlin Musik Week are all working together to make the mini German culture festival a reality.

And if, for some reason, you can't make it between 12 and 3 pm on the 18th, you can at least check out a few major German stars performing at the festival, including Niobe, Missincat, Matias Aguayo, Malente, and Hauschka.
