The Rapture Working With Phoenix's Producer on New Album, Say it Will Be "Better Than the iPad"

The Rapture

After bassist Mattie Safer recently quit the group, New York based band The Rapture were left with only three members. But that hasn't stopped them from hitting the studio for their third studio album. And for their long awaited follow up to 2006's 'Pieces of the People We Love,' the dance-punk group has enlisted none other than French producer Philippe Zdar, one half of French electronica duo Cassius, and the producer behind France's latest sensation, Phoenix.

The group is currently recording in a studio in the Montmartre quartier of Paris, and say that the Parisien atmosphere has had a direct impact on their work. As drummer Vitto Roccoforte tells Pitchfork, "Being in Paris makes the whole process seem kind of mysterious, a little magical." After Pitchfork's Jesse Will pointed out that those were the same adjectives that Steve Jobs used to describe the new iPad, Roccoforte repsonded, "Our new album's gonna be f***ing 100 times better than the iPad," adding, "With this record you're going to be interfacing with your soul in ways that have never happened before."
