'No One Knows About Persian Cats' Soundtrack to be Released

The fifth film by Iranian-Kurdish director Bahman Ghobadi, 'No One Knows About Persian Cats,' has been making huge waves. Co-written by journalist Roxana Saberi, an Iranian-American journalist who was imprisoned in Iran in 2009 under suspicion of espionage, the film won the Un Certain Regard Special Jury Prize at Cannes last year.

The story follows a younger singer named Negar and her boyfriend Ashkan. The couple attempts to make it in Iran as a rock band, which is forbidden by the authorities. They plan to escape to be able to perform in Europe, and they subsequently run into numerous stumbling blocks while attempting to acquire the proper paperwork. The film uses this one band as a microcosm to look at various censorship and human rights issues in Iran today.

The soundtrack will be released on April 13 on Milan Records. The full track listing can be seen after the jump.
