According to Nigeria's Daily Champion, Adigun Abolore of Alapomeji Records, known to many as 9ice, has been accused of stealing lyrics for the album that earned him millions. While the Daily Champion appears to base its story entirely on heresy, or, in their own parlance, "a little bird," it appears that a rapper who was at one point 9ice's peer has claimed much of the material from the successful rapper's second album, 'Gongo Aso,' to originally have been his own, despite 9ice having offered no credit for the work, let alone royalty cuts.
The little-known rapper in question, Baba Nee, claims that a yet-to-materialize video recording from one of his 2004 performances that depicts Baba rapping songs popularized by 9ice, will vindicate his claims.
In the meantime, as 9ice preps 'Versus,' his next album, for March 2010, Baba Nee released a promotional track that attempts to edge on 9ice, who as of yet is mum on the subject. The track's title? '2ice as 9ice.'
