Chatmonchy to Headline SXSW Japan Night

ChatmonchyThe all-girl three piece Japanese rock band Chatmonchy will be heading west next month... to Austin, Texas, where they will headline SXSW's Japan Night. The March 19 performance will be their first in the United States, and it happens to be timed well with the release of their upcoming album, 'Hyoujou - Coupling Collection,' set to release a few days later on the 24.

Chatmonchy will join electro artist Omodaka's (Soichi Terada) band Okamoto on the Japan Night stage. Chatmonchy will follow this debut performance with a short U.S. tour, with hopeful stops in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

"We want to challenge ourselves in other countries and see if we can convey our music with just the groove, without the lyrics," drummer Takahashi told The Japan Times.
