Ladysmith Black Mambazo, the all-male vocal group that rocketed to fame over twenty years ago with their 'discovery' at the hands of Paul Simon's 'Graceland,' are currently on a North American tour.
As a South African institution since the early 60's, the group have found themselves regularly at the center of their nation's events, as in 1993, when they accompanied Nelson Mandela to accept his Nobel Peace Prize. While they passed the 20th anniversary of Mandela's release from prison performing in Gary, Indiana, they are planning an as-yet undefined celebration for the first "Mandela Day," as established by the United Nations General Assembly.
