Believe it or not, legendary reggae ensemble Third World has been around for more than 3 decades already. And to celebrate their milestone 35th year anniversary, they're holding a special press conference this Friday (January 29th) at Montego Bay, Jamaica. As TropicalFete reports, the group is expected to formally announce their touring plans for the next year, which will see them making appearances in Europe, the U.S., Canada, Asia, Africa and, of course, the Caribbean. They're also reportedly planning on announcing the release of their newest album, titled 'Patriot.,' which had been originally scheduled to come out sometime in early 2010.
It certainly has been a long and winding road for the group--and one that they're still trekking along. Ever since they first came together in 1973, Third World has released a staggering 22 albums, not to mention the solo efforts from members like Bunny Rugs and Cat Coore. They've been nominated a full 10 times for Grammy awards, and even received the United Nations Peace Medal back in 1986. As the reggae trailblazers take a minute to pause and reflect on their career, reggae and music fans everywhere will likely find themselves comforted by the fact that even after 35 years, there's still more Third World music ahead of us.
