The Knife's Olaf Andersson Gives First Interview About 'Tomorrow In A Year'

the cover for The Knife's Darwin-themed opera Tomorrow in a YearWhile the news of Swedish electro pop band The Knife's upcoming Charles Darwin-themed opera has been circulating since Karin Dreijer Andersson released her Fever Ray solo project, brother Olaf has kept mum about the project. Until now. With the release a little over a month away, Dummy Mag's Charlie Robin Jones got the Berliner-by-way-of-Sweden to dish. Most of the interview is far from news, but Olaf did have some interesting things to say about Darwin's polarizing work and it's influence on the recording process.

"We've tried to capture this huge diversity you fell when reading Darwin. So we've used everything from field recordings from the Amazon and also our own environment – also fake field record like our own suggested animal alike synthetic sounds. Feedback sounds from different analog effects – orchestral percussion and string instruments – tried to make exciting vocal sounds"

You can stream the first single, 'Colouring of Pigeons,' on The Knife's website.
