Some of the most exciting breakthroughs in cutting edge technology, fashion and art are happening in Korea right now. Music is no exception. What began, like most things, as a niche venture, has now become one of the biggest, most corporate music industries in the world. With its unbelievably devoted (and exponentially growing) fanbase, Korean Pop (or KPOP, as it's more commonly known) has really exploded in the last decade or so, and, along with its cousin across the water, Japanese Pop (JPOP), has combined to capture the imaginations, ears, and hearts of so many people, from so many corners of the globe. Whether you're looking for that break-up ballad, or the peppy dance song to impress your friends with, the all-encompassing genre of KPOP is almost certain to have it.
Take a gander at the top 5 KPOP radio stations below, all of which you can find in the KPOP category on the SHOUTCast Radio Directory.
Top 5 KPOP Radio Stations
5) Mxproject.com
Like most of the stations in the top 5 here, MxProject features music from across Asia, without real discrimination in favor of one or the other. But with its extensive forums and chatrooms, you'll be guaranteed to find that perfect KPOP brew you've been craving all afternoon.
Another one of the versatile Asian pop sites, JPHIP carries more than just KPOP in stock. And more than just music. Go here to find concert listings, photo galleries, and the latest gossip or news traveling around the KPOP or JPOP grapevine.
CyWorld Kisses, unlike a lot of the stations you'll find in the SHOUTCast Directory, doesn't actually have a website. But that only underscores the fact that this mysterious little station is all business. Only KPOP. Only the best.
Seoul FM sounds like the kind of place you'd expect ot hear KPOP. And it is. There's some JPOP thrown in there for good measure, but the bottom line is strictly, and solely (Seoul-ly?) KPOP.
Yeah, the name doesn't exactly scream Korean. But give it a listen, and you'll see that there's much more than just Anime being taught at this Academy. You'll find JPOP and Anime electro theme songs. But you'll also find more than your fair share of KPOP, too. Given the way the genres have begun to overlap and borrow from each other in the past few years, this kind of station-sharing has become commonplace, and, ultimately, for the best, as you'll quickly be able to tell within a few minutes of class at the Anime Academy.
